Loading... Please wait...Cool-O-Rama. I bought one of these in Black at the release in 1991. It was hugely & radically retro even then, with it's Rickenbacker-esque F hole and Perloid pickguard with aged white body binding reminiscent of a Tele Thinline. So now after 17 years the body and binding has aged beautifully making this a strikingly desirable addition to anyone's collection.
The Surfcaster featured quite powerful and Tele-sounding Jackson lipstick pickups and a little-known pop switch in the tone knob that doubles the output, making the Surfcaster a total screamer through a Fender tube amp. There's a brilliant fulcrum tremolo on-board a more-or-less solid Mahogany slab - although the Surfcaster has an F hole, it's really a solid body guitar - lot's of twang, not much woof woof. It's all good.
There's a chip at the bottom front but the lacquer and binding are in place (held by super glue we suspect) and there re one or two superficial marks that are too small to photograph. That's all that's between a mint and 98% instrument - it even came strung with the original strings!
Comes with the full colour, full page announcing the Charvel Surfcaster cut of of the actual magazine in 1991! Along with the Gretsch Astrojet, this is the guitar that will get the girls - it wont even matter how well you play. The original case wiped out at Bondi, however we've put it in a nice new Strat case.
