Product Description
Magnificent MIJ 1972 Strat finished in Olympic White.
Are Japanese Fenders actually collectable? In the early manufacturing years they're better than US Fenders. Let's think about that period of time; CBS had systematically 'institutionalised' what was a semi-handmade guitar and was losing market share. After a short JV with Fender Japan, CEO Bill Schultz re-invigourated the Japanese built Fender as the MIJ line in 1984. All too late for CBS who sold Fender to Bill (and other staff) less the Fullerton buildings in 1985.
In 1985 there was a lot to prove but the Japanese were highly skilled, had the world's best work ethic and had big shoes to fill. The quality of the guitars created in Japan were light years beyond US manufacturing. This Strat proves this fact in spades. A truly special guitar with wonderful balance, finish and tone beyond any US-made Strat you'll come across. Things did change though; a decade later Fender US got better, the Japanese company were forced to reduce costs, but in the 80's some of the best Fenders came from Asia.
