Loading... Please wait...One year off the magical 'Burst era, the 1961 Les Paul Custom heralded a new shape in Gibson solid body guitars. You often read that the SG shape wasn't really that popular, but in 1961 the traditional Les Paul wasn't either and was the reason Gibson moved to a different body style. The fact was that Fender owned the market in Solid body guitars back then and people just weren't that interested in Gibson. Love it or hate it, the SG shape did in fact garner interest for Gibson, getting more players interested generally, which resulted in Gibson having to go back and re-release the Les Paul models in the late 60's.
A magnificent specimen with no neck crack or break issues, original perfectly balanced short-magnet PAF's and all original hardware down to the last screw. Sounds like nothing else, as you would expect from the legendary PAF era. Original hardshell case in excellent condition.
